Incident Happen at Btu Anchorage Area

This morning about 7.30 a.m. while I was attending the crew boat, the master told me that there is 1 of our oil company hired boat is on fire. The engine room on fire. The boat (Sea Searcher) was caring about 40 passengers to oil platform early morning and about 30 minutes later while on the way the thick smoke coming out from engine room. Upon knowing that the boat was on fire, immediately all the passenger abandon the ship to the next ship that was also hired by the oil company to the same location.

Until noon time, Bintulu Port fire department still try to stop the fire from spreading to the oil tank

compartment. And the dangerous is that the boat on fire near the LPG anchorage area which is bit dangerous. And from picture below, the LPG ship is passing behind the Sea Searcher. 

Finally the fire was put down about 3.00 p.m. and the boat tow to the port. 

It really a hectic day. At last it feel the relieve after the fire was put down. 

Hectic

What a very stressful day at work today. Guest that I fail in Emergency Exercise today.

Work before Sunrise till Sunset

Yes. Tomorrow is Sunday. It a rest day. But for me.... Not really a rest day. In my calendar there no such thing as Public Holiday. or even Sunday. My only Public holiday is when my turn to have 2 weeks off from my work. That mean completely off and no phone call. But when my turn to work for 2 weeks, there will be no peace and rest. Work like 24 a day for 14 days. But some how I like the work. Even I have to wake-up at 4 am in the morning. My schedule of work is before the sunrise i will start my day. And it end until end of the day. 

Life in Logistic

Almost 2 weeks I been in Bintulu since the 1st Oct. And another few more day I will off from my duties and heading back to my resting place. My mind is fell tired and exhausted. I been working like 24 hours. Even when I sleep, my hp must be next beside me. In case any emergency call from the rig. Who know, anything can be happen. I just really need a break. Maybe 2 week rest is enough for me. Otherwise to long holiday can destroy my body into laziness. It hard for me to start my engine especially after the long break. It need time and slow motion to gain back my workaholic. Only after the few day, then I can really back into my mood of working. 

My job in logistic field is one of the busy and hectic type of job I can say. Logistic is about movement from one location to another location. Neither is cargo or personnel. It can be myself moving from one location to another location. For example, going to work everyday from my house to office. Or when how to bring my CD to my friend oversea? All this required bit of planning even it already in our daily routine.  In life, not everyday be the same day. Don't expect that tomorrow will be the same as today. Or next week will be the same as this week. Or even next year be the same as this year. Thing will never be the same. Even lifeless being like metal will even get rusty next year. 

I just don't know why I ended up in this field. From the first day of my work life, I been in the logistic section. Until to this day, still in logistic section. I never studies logistic before. Logistic study was not very famous during my study year back in the 90's. The word 'logistic' only appear in subject like management or in marketing only. But just a small scope of it. It want to study logistic, it would be best start with Supply Chain or Warehousing. Because it all related with each other. But for me to know about supply chain, warehousing and logistic is because it start from my experiences in work field. I been working in timber company. That is how I know the 20' and 40' container. My superior even ask me to measure the length of the container. hahaha. Until I work with 100% logistic and forwarding company. It about everything I want to know. From cargo movement to vessel movement. From custom clearance to vessel clearance. From import to export. All kinds of equipment I seen before. Even soya bean or corn maize I been cleared. Until I fully join in oil and gas company, I still in logistic. Guest the word logistic will be in my mind forever. 

Tired ....

Now almost midnight, and I still in office. There some urgent tool need to be send to the rig. So what to do? Have to wait till the guy from Labuan come delivery the tool to me all the way till Bintulu. My life for the pass 2 week was tired and sleepless. Wake up early in the morning and go back late. This is the life of a person working in oil and gas industry. Lucky for me, that I work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Tomorrow will be my last day before I take 2 weeks off from my work. No phone call, and sleep late and wake up late. I really need a life after this. 

And just come to my knowledge a moment ago, that one of the crew boat that is been hired by my company, found a body of a person floating in the sea. So now on the way to bring the body to the hospital. Still not sure any detail of the body. Hopefully not our crews.

Stressful, but manage to cope

Yesterday, I was having a very good sleep. Thank God no one disturb me the whole nigth and morning. So I managed to sleep straight till almost 9.30am. I been busy working since last Wednesday noon. Day and night, and early morning before the muslim sahur, I already start. Go to office at about 5 am in the morning. Straight till late evening. Or shut down during 3 am in the morning, also have to do action plan for it. It the nature of the job and it dealing with oil and gas industry. Luckly I in Shore base logistic.

Logistics mean having the right thing at the right time and at the right place. Which is very important in oil and gas industries. In this industry, meaning everything is money. even time is money. Just 1 or 2 hours of shut down, it can cause thousand of dollor gone. So everything must be in fast and accurate. I not robot, but just human being. Not no say that everything I do will be perfect. Even I will do mistake. But try to minimize the mistake. Now I just monitoring 1 drilling rig only. But end of the week, need to add up another drilling rig which make up to 2 rig. Hope it won't be stressful.

This time my job also stressful, but with the past experience, I managed to cope with it and learned from my past experience of how to handle stress and put it into useful tool in my job. Except that my neck pain, that required my Yen Ling to massage my back when I get back.

The Starting of My Busy day

What a busy day for me since yesterday noon after the handover the duties to me. Well now my turn to live as busy life for the next 2 weeks. I been not get enough sleep. Yesterday, I just just have my breakfast at Bt. Niah. And after reach Miri, straight to my office for hand over duties from my colleague. An my only meal is dinner at 9pm. And this morning, I wake up early. before the cock crow, I already wake up, and to office an the end of Bintulu. And the work start for me to handling 18 crews to Hercules 208. And coming out from Hercules 208 about 1 crews. But it not really stress as I managed to handle it before. Last time my previous company
lagi teruk. Even to compose my blog also no time. But hope that everything will goes well and smooth operation.

Past & Present in Working Life

I really like the working environment in my new job. Every work there must be pressure and stress. But it depend what the level of stress one will encounter. But I really like the environment in my office. So quite and far away from town of Bintulu. Not really stressful and the work is OK la. Why I say not that stressful? Because the project that I monitor still not yet start. That why it zero stress and pressure. Plus the environment is surrounding by the little jungle. Every morning I can listen to the bird singing on my window. It a black with white coloured bird. Don't know what it called. The coffee is always there in the coffee maker. Plus, there always a free breakfast in the kitchen everyday! Compared to my last job, It less stress and working environment is much better. Well below are 10 comparissons I make;

Present Job (M)

1. Zero Stress (Project not start yet)

2. Can have a good nite sleep

3. Cola (not coka-cola la) every month

4. Good pay and working environment

5. Good working environment - fair and square.

6. Free coka-cola and soft drinks in office for staffs (ini baru coka-cola minum)

7. Free breakfast everyday

8. Each staff just do his/her own duties only

9. Take time to complete the job... but must complete within or before due time

10. well... still a good place to work in


Previous Job (H)

1. Stressful until can get hypertension in work.

2. Nightmare...even thinking of work before sleep, during sleep and wake up.

3. Cola apa? Coka-cola untuk clients pun kena beli sendiri

4. Teruk punya. Pilih kasih punya la. If the new staff the HQ related to big boss, surely semua kasi punya.

5. Naik gaji jangan harap la... Susah nak naik punya

6. Jangan kata staffs! Clients datang office meeting, nak beli coka-cola pun muka masam sudah. Kena beli sendiri punya. Just served Mineral water. Itu pun kalau boleh paling murah punya. 50 cents!

7. Breakfast?! Kena beli sendiri. If company provided everyday, bankrupt!!! how to take care of the staff like this?

8. If dapat, 1 staff buat kerja 10 staffs...

9. Sorry la. Start 8.00 am, kerja kerja kerja saja la. Semua urgent punya. Tak urgent pun jadi urgent.

10. Aduh... kalau dapat, lepas dapat bonus, keluar la... (my ex-staffs told me)

But thing now change as I managed to get into better job in Oil & Gas Company i.e. one of the best and well do company in Malaysia. Well it a miracle to enter that company, as alot application, only me can accepted into it. Big thank you for all those help me to get into this company. Hope it will last me in the company until my retirement.

Monday Blue

Yes. Today is Monday. And most of us will named it Monday blue. After all the actions on weekend, our energy seem to be zero. So it contributed to lazy Monday. Unfortunately, Monday is the day, most of us must go the work. Because we need to go office, and plus no energy, we tend to be very tired, no mood, and lazy to work. That is what happen to most of us. Like me this morning,
1. Wake up at 6.30a.m.
2. Breakfast at 7.00 a.m
3. Go to office at 7.30 a.m
4. Arrive office at 7.40 a.m.
5. Sit on my desk about 20 minute.
6. Read newspaper....
7. by near 10.00 a.m. sleeply.

Fell like no mood to work today lor. But as part of life, it a routine. Tak kerja mana dapat cari makan. Luckily, not many work to be done in office today. Part of it because, project not start, so I still have time to honeymoon in my office.

Business Trip

I just received a news that I need to attend a meeting in KL this coming Monday. Well the flight ticket and hotel already booked from my hq this morning. After the meeting, the next day, I need to travel down to Pasir Gudang to inspect the rig.

But........ I am damn tired to travel to KL for meeting. Don´t know why. Maybe because I hate HSE meeting. In fact this meeting is about HSE. Well, I guest I will stop over here. Need to plan for my trip.

Remembered the past....

Now I back in Labuan for my holiday. In fact I was already 4 days here. Well to tired to composed any post. Only today only I find there some time for me to compose something. even I don´t have anything to type. Well just type whatever it come out from my head....
Want to post some picture of the Labuan Island, which I took when I w still working with my old company in shipping and forwarding. I was in fact going to the vessel by speed boat. Just like go for search and rescue for some crew. hahaha. What a good experienced that time for me.
